Another pair of the Staghorn mittens, this pair for my mom. My mom & sister have hands that are about (literally) 1mm longer than mine, so it's easy fit the mittens. They both have stronger hands than mine, so I added about four stitches to the width to fit.
If I make these again, I'll add the stitches to the thumb side (I put them on the opposite side to balance the increases for the thumb gusset). The pattern twists after the thumb from losing the extra width from the thumb gusset. I noticed it on the pair I made for my MIL but didn't figure out the solution until now.
Sewing thoughts- one of our best friends (he introduced us, can I say that enough? *grin*) broke his leg last week and is strictly NWB (non weight bearing). I want to make him a crutches bag to strap onto each crutch so he can "carry" stuff. We spent the afternoon hanging out and his palms are all bruised from the crutch handle- that means he's using the crutches right (old ortho CNA training coming out here) but also looks super painful. Hopefully a useful homemade gift will cheer him up a bit. Anyone ever done this? Any ideas for how to fasten the bag to the crutch? I know it can't swing or it will knock his balance off, I'm thinking velco maybe or snaps....

I love the mittens. I have a frogged sweater that would look great in that pattern, so I might have to get to work. But, then again, winter is almost over (isn't it??lol!).
Those mittens are incredibly gorgeous! I am making socks in similar patterns, but it is taking forever!
