The hotel had turndown service, with little Godiva chocolates.


The library had a used bookstore that also sold shirts and bags (of course we bought some!)

Aunt Sarah! (the thrill doesn't wear off after four times)

I first became an Aunt in 2002, when my beloved nephew arrived in Louisiana. In 2008, I married into another three nephews. I love them all dearly. But when my Louisiana nephew called last week to share some big news, I was excited all over again. He is going to be a big brother!


Immediately, knitting cranked into full gear. Unfortunately, all my baby projects on the needles were wool. This is a July in Louisiana baby. No worries, though- I've been polishing off projects and digging out the cotton. Little baby things, coming up!

Things I like

My sweetie replaced the batteries in all my watches. I can now select any one of my favorites (they are all my favorite) to wear to work! The large watch is one of the best- a second hand (absolute necessity) and the date (very helpful).


The needle case I ordered from Ravenhill's etsy shop came. Isn't it pretty? Thanks, Ravenhill! (I also may or may not have purchased a doll for a much-loved-in advance baby anticipated for one of my closest friends this summer)


And, last of tonight's list of things I like- the UMaine pen my Dad gave me. Isn't it purty? And it has a nice heft and writes well. I dare not take it to work, I would not be happy if someone borrowed it!

Oh, hi! We're back from a wonderful vacation, Christmas in Vermont with lovely piles of snow (and a missing suitcase but it was found eventually) and New Year's Eve in Massachusetts with good friends, and more snow. It was lovely. Coming back to work was a bit difficult.

Tonight I finished my sister-in-law's present- a pair of mittens. As you can see they are suffering my traditional fraternal twin syndrome and I am hoping that after blocking and then rolling them up with tissue paper to ship, they may be fairly close in size.
