Updates (pic heavy)

I forgot where these pictures were (on my sweetie's camera). The amazing difference blocking can make to a scarf.Staining, polyurethaning, and drying all the trim required some creative positioning.
And before we could put it up, we had to plaster where the old plaster fell away when we took down the trim.

Farewell, green couch

Tomorrow afternoon, someone is coming to pick up my couch. It's a nice couch, it's been very helpful and many times it has even pinch-hit as a spare bed, but it's time to go live somewhere else. I'm leaving it for a new model. My sweetie has a nicer couch and we're going to keep that and get rid of this one. *sigh* Time marches on.

In other interesting news, I would like to share a home-improvement tip: if you are, for example, somewhat careless when applying polyurethane to trim boards and get some on your ring finger right where your ring is...some minutes later you may find the ring is fixed to your finger. Pulling frantically as you imagine toxins seeping into your body helps remove it. Not, of course, that anyone would need this hint. Pictures of all the work we've been doing comes tomorrow (my sweetie has the camera at his place)!

birthday photos

This is my first lace style knit scarf. Isn't it cute? I made it for my friend CKG and here we prove we are "knit together". Heehee.

We shared our birthday. In addition to some tasty tea, a gorgeous mug, and very cool Maine lobster stitch markers, look what she gave me! I love the cherry blossom scent, it's light and very yummy. The yarn, oh...the yarn...I love it. And I super-heart the FLIP BOOKS she gave me showing knit and purl increases and right and left slanting decreases. Even if you aren't a knitter, I recommend you get one. They are FUN!

Wedding presents

We decided that we needed to buy ourselves wedding presents.

A compound mitre saw and a pancake air compressor with finish trim nailer and stapler (whatever, it was a good deal). The bedroom is getting there, bit by bit. Right now it looks like this.

Tomorrow is my last day at the clinic. I will be working somewhere else part-time (thankfully) while I finish the rest of my program at school- so tonight I'm going to take it easy. Maybe do some knitting, maybe just veg out with a book.

Happy Birthday CKG!!!

The secret sewing project shall be unveiled Friday evening! That's when CKG and I are having our joint birthday dinner celebration. Until then, this little hint. I am growing seriously addicted to making these little zippered bags. This one is fully lined in the same fabric.
And don't forget to wish CKG a happy birthday!

post- birthday give aways!

Happy yesterday birthday to me, I have no place to sleep tonight so will be on the couch (sing faster to fit it all in), my sweetie and I are ripping apart the bedroom to paint, it's my birthday present to myself! :)

Funny how that happened. I've been going through my closet and cleaning those mysterious huge tubs stacked in the corner of the bedroom (left over from moving in two years ago). I leave for Maine in early June, and right after I leave my sweetie is moving his stuff in. We'll be back, in wedded bliss and all that, after the wedding. So. I said, I think I'll finish painting the bedroom (novel idea). He said, let's take down the baseboards so you can paint around them. Then the molding around the ceiling came down. I've been vacuuming up a storm and SO GLAD we bought the shop vac last fall.

Now, the giveaways. I'm stuck and DONE with that quilt top. It's jammed up my machine so many times, and no way am I doing a queen-plus quilting by hand right now with everything else going on. So, I've packed it in a box and the first person who wants it, let me know!

The other giveaway (no pic, sorry) is the cookbook Apples for Jam. I'm paring down (heehee get it!?) and don't have room for it. It's in nearly-new condition. So in your comment let me know which giveaway you'd like.

And...yarn goodness in the midst of it. I'm making scarves for some of my sweetie's family for Christmas this year. And since there are quite a few scarves to make, I'm starting early. One on the needles, and look at this lovely yarn that came today!
